Website Redesign

The Problem

OKD’s outdated website was in need of a modern refresh and a brand new redesign.

Oakland Kendo Dojo wanted to have a website that is easier to navigate with as few clicks as possible to reach the desired information. In its original state, the OKD site appeared dated, clunky and cumbersome. Although the content was still relevant and useful, it needed copy editing and updated imagery.

In addition to reorganizing the navigation and updating the imagery and copy, OKD wanted to make the site responsive to different devices and easy to update future content.

My Role

Over the course of 6 months, I was responsible for the full redesign and development of the OKD website, including developing and testing the new sitemap, wireframing and prototyping in Figma, usability testing, and building the website in a visual builder with some CSS coding (Squarespace). Each page was built for usability, accessibility and responsive attributes along with a design showcasing the sport of kendo through the patina of time.
